Roberto Mondragon

Former Lt. Governor

Roberto Mondragon is a well known public figure in New Mexico. He held the office of Lieutenant Governor of New Mexico from January 1, 1979 – January 1, 1983 under Governor Bruce King. He is also a well accomplished musician and music artist who has recorded two albums. He is well known for the New Mexico Spanish Language State Song, “Asi Es Nuevo Mexico” which he recorded in 1971. He is also known for dedicating much of his life to the the preservation of maintaining Hispanic Heritage in New Mexico. Below you can listen his recording of two of our state songs.
