When to File – Date and Time
Candidate filing day for all local offices for the 2026 Municipal Officer Election is TUESDAY, JANUARY 6, 2026 – between 9:00am and 5:00pm – in the offices of the Municipal Clerks.
Candidate filing day for write-in candidates of all local offices for the 2026 Municipal Officer Election is TUESDAY, JANUARY 13, 2026 – between 9:00am and 5:00pm – in the offices of the Municipal Clerks.
Where to File – Proper Filing Officer
Declarations of candidacy and candidate qualification documents will be filed with the municipal clerk in which the candidate resides.
Nominating Petitions
We encourage candidates or their representatives to contact the local jurisdiction in which they are running for office, to determine if nominating petitions will be needed for candidacy. Gathering nominating petitions is not required pursuant to state law, but local ordinances may require it.
What to File – Forms
Each candidate must submit a Declaration of Candidacy Form (and any other required forms) to their proper filing officer, during the designated hours for filing (see section above “Where to File – Proper Filing Officer.”
