Campaign Contribution Limits

The Campaign Reporting Act [1-19-25 to 1-19-36 NMSA 1978] contains provisions regarding contribution limits to and from candidates and political committees.  Section 1-19-34-7(F), includes a provision regarding incremental increases in contribution limits after each general election.  These incremental increases are based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) as measured by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Effective January 1, 2023, the campaign contribution limits per election cycle are:

The contribution limits do not apply to contributions from a candidate’s personal funds to the candidate’s own campaign fund.
